Wishful Painting Wednesday: Good Thoughts = Good Life

Sometimes certain ideas are so simple that we overlook them. I wholeheartedly believe that if we think good thoughts, then good things will come. I don't mean just "things" either. I mean good experiences, good feelings, good overall. That is how this painting came into being. The yellow circles are like thought bubbles in my mind. The tight little squiggles are a mixture of all the things that cross our minds during a day. The good, the bad and the ugly. The turquoise stripes dragged in the texture into circles and all the good thoughts set free to un-spiral and become reality.

These Wishful Paintings are changing with each one I make. It is time for me to make a new one this week and I can't wait. I know the words, but the painting hasn't revealed itself to me yet. I am sure when I begin to sketch and play with the letter arrangement, it will come out. You'll see next week!

Positive Flow is obviously a sister to Finding the Good. I truly believe that good things happen when we are in a positive flow. It is as if there is a chain reaction in attitude. If we keep being negative, then negative things happen and if we let the positive in, then positive things start to happen. Have you ever noticed that when you are mad about something in the morning you inevitably drop your keys and spill your coffee on the way to the car? Which, if you let it, makes everything worse for the rest of the day. Conversely, when you try to let go of the anger and frustration of the morning, then things get better during the day.

I am really trying desperately to let go of the negative and let the positive flow in my life. Making paintings like these really helps.

This painting is kind of a sister to "Moving Through It". I made them one after the other and it shows. "The Look of Change" is visually about the changing of landscape. How time and weather erodes and morphs the earth into new shapes and colors. For me personally, it is about getting used to unexpected events changing the way I do things. I never realized how poorly I react to change until I realized I was having a temper tantrum about how my life is unrecognizable. Boo hoo, poor me, right? The good news is that if you accept change with grace, you might actually find that life can be quite generous. Who knew?
