Somebody Pinch Me!

The last couple weeks I have been working on a new little commission for one of my collectors. Did I just say that? Yes, yes I did. When I first started making paintings 10 years ago, I dreamed of saying that. I actually thought it was a fantasy. I slowly started making paintings, getting involved, and educating myself on how to make it in this business. It just occurred to me recently, I think I am "making it". If I know one thing for sure, everything can change as fast as a blink of an eye, so I promise to NEVER take this moment for granted. For right now though, it feels really good. I feel like I should pinch myself and make sure I am not dreaming.  I'm not making millions, but what I am doing is making paintings and people are buying them and they are even asking me to make them especially for them. That is what I have always wanted and now my heart is filled with gratitude. Maybe the millions will come one day too!

So here is my latest little dream come true in progress:

Last year I sold "Divercity" to S and L in Memphis. This is a photo they sent to me of it re-framed and hanging in their dining room. What a treat to see where my work now lives!

The day after I got home from Memphis, S texted me and said they need one more to balance out the grouping they had bought from me that weekend, but I only had three left and they were not the right colors, so he asked me to make one for them.

So I said yes, of course! I e-mailed him today and he is happy with it, yay! So now I just need to varnish it, paint the frame black, wire it, pack it and ship it! How do YOU like it? I think I might call it "Living the Dream".

The best part is, that today, I just started another commission for a wonderful lady I met in Chicago a few years back. I will be posting more about that soon....

  1. Beautiful artwork, doesn't it just warm your heart to see it on display in its new home.

    1. Thank you Kathryn. Yes it does! When he mailed me the check, in the memo he called it "The Missing Piece". I like that title too!
